ASTRA Leadership

The governance of Arizona State Therapeutic Recreation Association

rests with the ASTRA Board of Directors (BOD).

The BOD consists of the following positions:

• President - Guides and directs the organization
• Vice President - Acts as the organization's internal relations and acts as a liaison between ASTRA and ATRA
• Secretary/Treasurer - Records the organization's minutes and is responsible for the organization's finances
• Professional Development Director - Responsible for all educational sessions and networking events
• Public Relations/Communication Director - Oversees the marketing and all information disseminated for the organization

Board members commit to a two (2) year term of service, to attend regular meetings, actively participate in ASTRA initiatives, and to conduct themselves as ambassadors for the therapeutic recreation profession.

The Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer and Public Affairs/Communication Director will be elected on even years, and the President and Professional Development Director will be elected on odd years. Board terms run congruent with the organization's fiscal year (October - September). 

All ASTRA Professional, Retired Emeritus, and/or Student members, in good standing, interested in serving on the BOD are eligible to be nominated and run for election. Election details will be announced approximately 90 days prior to the end of the organization's fiscal year.

All members, in good standing, are welcome to attend any board meeting as a guest and may view past minutes.
