Advocacy Committee

The ASTRA Advocacy Committee is a dedicated group of volunteer recreational therapists committed to advancing the visibility, value, and viability of recreational therapy across Arizona. Through collaboration and strategic action, the committee works to influence policy, educate stakeholders, and promote awareness of the profession’s essential role in recreation, health and human services. Current efforts include analyzing state and national policy trends, engaging key stakeholders, forming recreational therapy interest groups, and supporting the American Therapeutic Recreation Association's national legislative and policy initiatives.

Public Relations and Communications Committee

The ASTRA Public Relations and Communication Committee plays a vital role in sharing the story and impact of recreational therapy across Arizona. This creative team supports the work of the Public Relations & Communications Director by managing ASTRA’s digital presence, ensuring our message is clear, timely, and engaging. This committee keeps our community connected and informed by maintaining the website and social media channels and collaborating with board members to promote events. The purpose is to build a connected community of recreational therapy professionals by highlighting professional achievements and promoting opportunities for connection, socialization, and celebration!
